Wires and cables are often called the "arteries" and "nerves" of the national economy. They are essential components for transmitting electrical energy, transmitting information, manufacturing various motors, instruments, and meters, and achieving electromagnetic energy conversion. They are essential foundational products for the future electrified and information-based society.
The wire and cable industry boasts a diverse product range and a wide range of applications, encompassing industries such as power, construction, communications, and manufacturing, and is closely intertwined with every sector of the national economy. Especially in rapidly developing countries like China, the demand for infrastructure and supporting facilities is enormous.
With the EU's promulgation of the ROHS Directive, the research and development and large-scale adoption of environmentally friendly wires and cables have become an international trend. Currently, the application of flame-retardant and fire-resistant cables has expanded to many fields both domestically and internationally, such as mining cables, general-purpose rubber-sheathed cables, elevator cables, and cables for household appliances, all of which require varying degrees of flame retardancy. Key cities such as Beijing and Shanghai have clearly stipulated that the use of polyvinyl chloride is prohibited in important buildings to avoid large amounts of thick smoke and chlorine gas in the event of a fire, which may cause more casualties. The use of halogen-free, low-smoke cross-linked polyolefin insulation has become a local regulation in these areas. With the increase in environmental awareness, the application of such wires will gradually expand, and green and environmentally friendly products will become a trend in my country's cable industry.
